Man hits wife with car, faces drunk driving charge

While accidents are sometimes unavoidable, some incidents may warrant a closer look. If authorities believe that criminal activity was involved in an event, it is likely that a person could end up facing charges. In particular, allegations for drunk driving may come about if police suspect alcohol involvement in an injury-causing incident.

It was recently reported that a man in Oklahoma was taken into custody after an accident that left his wife injured. Apparently, the man had been driving a vehicle when he dropped his wife off at their home. He then left the home in the vehicle, and when he returned, his wife was in the driveway. However, he reportedly did not see her and struck her with the vehicle.

Emergency crews were called to the scene, and the woman was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries. It was unclear what caused authorities to suspect that the man was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Nonetheless, he was taken into custody for DUI. Additional information regarding the incident and the arrest may become available at a later time.

The man undoubtedly had no intention of purposefully harming his wife, but unfortunately, accidents can happen easily. While he certainly feels badly about the outcome, he must now also focus on how to handle the drunk driving allegation brought against him. Information on his criminal defense options and how his case will proceed through Oklahoma criminal court may help him better understand his predicament and how he may effectively handle it.
