Drunk driving allegations need serious attention

There are many ways that a person could choose to address DUI charges. Depending on the specific circumstances of an arrest, the accused party may have a variety of defense strategies available. Of course, it can be difficult to determine how to implement the right tactics to work toward creating a meaningful defense against drunk driving allegations.

One man in Oklahoma will certainly want to ensure that he understands his legal options after serious allegations, including DUI, were recently brought against him. Apparently, the man was driving a vehicle when he allegedly collided with the rear of another car at approximately 10:30 p.m. The woman driving the other car suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the accident site.

The man allegedly smelled of alcohol at the time of the incident, but he was not taken into custody on the Monday of the accident. Instead, a warrant was issued for his arrest on Friday, and he reportedly turned himself in the following Monday. He is currently facing charges for DUI, first-degree manslaughter and reckless driving. It was unclear whether any breath or blood tests were conducted to determine the man's blood alcohol concentration levels.

The evidence the prosecution has against a person accused of drunk driving or other serious crimes can play a major role in the case. Therefore, individuals in Oklahoma may want to determine what evidence the prosecution may have gathered and how parties may be able to use that information when building their criminal defense presentations. Because dealing with any type of criminal charge can be difficult, individuals may wish to consider speaking with knowledgeable attorneys.
