J. Eric Turner

J. Eric Turner

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Eric has represented rural electric cooperatives across Oklahoma for over a decade. He provides broad support through a statewide association of cooperatives and through a generation and transportation cooperative.  Eric has returned to his family’s rural roots and greatly enjoys working with the leaders of communities across rural Oklahoma.

Eric began practice in 1983 with a Shawnee  firm which became Ingram and Turner.  In 1989, he returned to Oklahoma City focusing primarily on insurance industry matters, joining the Derryberry firm as partner in 1992. Following ten years in his own firm, he returned as ‘of counsel’ with the Derryberry firm in 2005.  Eric transitioned again to partner in 2017 following the death of his mentor in rural electric matters, Larry Derryberry.

Eric is deeply concerned with the current hunger crisis in Oklahoma, and serves on the board of Urban Mission, a food pantry providing food and fundamental services for thousands of families in need each year.  He and Lisa, married for 35 years, are members of First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City and have two adult children, Kathryn and Jackson, both research scientists.
